We know mosquitoes very well. Mosquitoes fly everywhere. They can be found almost all over the world, and there are more than 2,500kinds of them.

No one likes the mosquito. But the mosquito may decide that she loves you. She?Yes, she. It’s true that the male mosquito doesn’t bite(咬)and only the female mosquito bites because she needs blood to lay eggs. She is always looking for things or people she wants to bite. If she likes what she finds, she bites. But if she doesn’t like your blood, she will turn to someone else for more delicious blood. Next time a mosquito bites you, just remember you are chosen. You’re different from the others!

If the mosquito likes you, she lands on your body without letting you know. She bites you so quickly and quietly that you may not feel anything different. After she bites, you will have an itch(痒)on your body because she puts something from her mouth together with your blood. By the time the itch begins, she has flown away.

And then what happens?Well, after her delicious dinner, the mosquito feels tired. She just wants to find a place to have a good rest. There, on a leaf or a wall, she begins to lay eggs, hundreds of eggs.

Turn off the water! Did you know that some toilets can waste twenty to forty cubic(立方)meters of water an hour?In a year, that would fill a small river! In environment clubs, students mend those broken toilets. We love our environment. Let’s work together to make it clean.

Recycling is nothing new. Waste paper, rings, and many other things have been recycled and used again in many different ways for many years. It is only the word that is new. But now that natural materials(原料)are becoming more difficult to find, many countries are experimenting with other ways of keeping materials.

In the U. S. A., a publishing firm has brought out several books on pollution and waste in the United States. The books are made of recycled paper—that is paper that has been used as paper before. In this way, several thousand trees are saved. Multiply those books by hundred, or even a thousand, and the whole forests are saved. One clever schoolboy has worked it out that if every schoolbook in the U. S. A. was recycled, there would be enough paper for fifty packets of peanuts(花生)for every child in the world for five years. He does not say where the peanuts are to come from.

Several firms are experimenting with making containers(集装箱)from a hard plastic which, when the containers are finished, can be used as building materials, a kind of brick. If mountains of empty cans all over the world can be changed into building materials that are not too expensive, that too, is a new source(来源)of material.

68.What is recycling?It is ________.

A.to invent something           B.to produce and make

C.to use materials for the second time D.to discover and use

69.Since natural materials are becoming ________, people are finding ways of making use of the

waste materials.

70.From the passage, children are more likely to reuse ________.

C.there will be empty cans all over the mountain

You can use our Business Telecard International at any card phone in the United Kingdom. Here is some information about making international phone calls.

You can now phone almost any country in the world, although in some cases you can only call big cities. When you can’t make direct dialing calls, you can ask the international operator to help you. This is more expensive and takes more time, but it may be helpful. If you want to speak to a particular person and no one else, in this case you should ask for a “person-to-person” call. Even more expensive is a reserve(留下)charge call, where the person who receives the call pays.

If the international line is busy, you can reserve a call to explain the number you want and the operator will call back when the line is free.

You can save money by calling outside office hours, for example, early in the morning, late at night and on Sundays.

Remember that the time may be different in the country you are calling. International time is based on GMT(Greenwich Mean Time). London is on GMT and Moscow, for example, is 3hours ahead.

There is one problem: change to DST(Daylight Saving Time)for the summer. In the UK, clocks are put forward one hour in spring and put back in autumn, and so London is actually one hour ahead of GMT in the summer.

72.__________ is the most expensive type of call.

A.Direct dialing call B.Calling through the operator

C.Reserving charge call D.Calling outside office hours

73.When is it cheaper to make an international call?

  A.10 a. m. B.5 p. m. C.11 p. m. D.8 a. m.

74.Moscow is __________ hours ahead of London during the summer.

  A.one        B.two         C.three D.four

75.If you want to use Business Telecard International, you have to __________ .

  A.use a card phone           B.make a direct dialing call

  C.phone on Sunday           D.pay extra

Dear my classmates,

May I have your attention, please?

Yesterday I paid a visit to a model high school, together with my friend. It’s very big with a beautiful fountain in the center of the schoolyard.

We started our visit from the main building. First we went to the lab building where some students were doing experiments. Then we entered the lecture hall behind the lab building and saw many students listening to a lecture given by a professor. Opposite to the lecture hall was the art center. There we watched groups of students playing musical instruments. Finally we arrived at the playground at the far back of the school. Some boys were having a football game, which was so exciting that we couldn’t help cheering for them.

It was really an impressive visit.

Thanks for your listening.

M: Camping? I’ve never done that.

W: I think you’ll really like it. It’s much cheaper than staying at a hotel. And being close to nature is a good way to forget about our school for a while.

M: What a good idea! We can go by bike until we find a nice place and just camp.

Miss Jenkins was born in a rich family. She liked all the foods which were rich in fat and sugar. So she got fatter and fatter. Her workmates often laughed at her for it. She was angry with them and couldn’t get on well with them. But her weight brought her some trouble. No young man liked a fat girl like her and now she was more than thirty, she had to live alone. She went to see the doctors. They gave her a list of the healthy diets and advised her to lose weight and of course it was difficult for her to do so. For example, it was her birthday one day. She went to a restaurant and bought a nice cake. The waiter asked her how many pieces she wanted him to cut it into. She thought for a while and said she was losing her weight so the cake would be cut only into two, not into six.
