Many people of the United States and throughout the world enjoy bird watching or “birding”,one of the fasted-growing outdoor activities. In fact, a report by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service showed that over 50 million American watch birds. There are many reasons why birding has become such a popular pastime, but one of the main reasons is how easy it is to start. Birding is an activities that almost anyone can do regardless of age, physical size and strength, or experience; also, it can be done alone or as part of a group of other birding enthusiasts. A city park, a field, a forest, or even a friend’s backyard are all good places to start. This makes the fun of bird watching open to just about everyone.
The basics of bird watching are simple. By definition, bird watching is “the observation of birds in their natural home.” All you need to start is the time and place to look for birds and small notebook to record notes about the birds you see. Any pair of binoculars(望远镜) you can use will also help. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of joining “the birding boom”:
1. When you first find a bird, try to name it. Take notes about the bird’s size, appearance, and the sounds it makes; later, ensure your sighting with a field guide or other bird watching reference.
2. Record the date and time of each bird you see. That way you will have a record of all your sighting to compare with other birding lovers.
3. Try birding in a variety of habitats. If you only look in the same place each time you go birding, it will not take long before you will want to find new and different birds.
4. Try looking for one or two new birds to record any time you travel to a new area.
5. Join a bird watching club or take other birders with you to new sighting areas. You are likely to learn a lot from others and have a lot of fun in the process.
If you enjoy bird watching, you are certainly not alone. It’s a fun way to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. It’s also an activity with a built-in bonus: birders sometimes help develop scientific knowledge just b practicing their hobby and taking part in the birding boom. Who knows? Some day, and ornithologist (someone who studies birds) might even thank you for your own birding observations!
64.The author most likely wrote this passage to ______
a) interest readers with bird stories
b) inform readers about bird watching
c) describe various bird habitats for readers
d) persuade readers to become bird scientists
65.The underlined word “enthusiasts” means ____
a). fans b). farmers c). officials d). guides
66. What is the best title for the passage?
a)The Backyard Birders
b)Birding Club Boom
c)The Birding Boom
d)Endangered birds

Car and polluted air
Each year there is an increasing number of cars on the roads and streets as millions of new cars and trucks are produced. One out every six Americans works at putting together parts of the cars, driving trucks, building roads,or filling with gas. Americans won’t live without cars!
Most Americans would find it hard to think what life could look like without a car. However, some have realised the serious problem of the air pollution caused by the car.
The polluted air becomes poisonous and dangerous to health.
One way to get rid of the polluted air is to build a car that does not pollute. That’s what several of the large car factories have been trying to do. But to build a clean air is easier said than done. Progress in this field has been slow.
Another way is to take the place of car engine by something else. Inventors are now working on steam cars as well as electric cars. Many makers believe that it will take years to develop a practical model that pleases man.
To prevent the world from being polluted by car, we will have to make some changes in the way many of us live. Americans, for example, have to cut down the number of their total cars. They are encouraged to travel and to go to work by bicycle. Bicycling is thought to help keep the air clean.
But this change does not come easily-a large number of workers may find themselves without jobs if a car factory closes down. Thus the problem of air pollution would become less important than of unemployment.
Although cars have led us to a better life, they have also brought us new problems.
67. How many ways to get rid of air pollution are suggested in this article by the writer?
a). one b). two c). three d). four
68. Large car factories are trying to build a clean car___
a) which is clean in itself
b) which is used to clean the street
c) which does not pollute the air
d) which is easier to make
69.If the number of cars is cut down, the most serious problem to American workers is ____
a)to have no work to do
b)to keep the air clean
c)to get a better life
d)to go to work by bike
70.What is the conclusion of the writer?
a)Bicycling is the only way out
b)The number of cars must be cut down
c)Cars bring us nothing but serious problems
d)Cars bring us not only a better life bet serious problems
