Dear Earthmen,
I have enjoyed my stay on your interesting unusual planet. I think I understand the life on earth now and I would like to give you my impressions.
First of all you live in boxes. Every morning you leave your big boxes and get into smaller boxes on wheels. All these small boxes race around and around, and finally stop to rest. You then leave these boxes on wheels and go to very large tall boxes.
After testing all days you get back in your little boxes and return to your big boxes. There
you sit and stare at tiny glowing boxes with moving pictures on the front.
Only one thing puzzles me. One day, I went to a football game. A bunch of angry boys fought over a little round ball. Everyone yelled for them to stop but they kept on fighting. They were angry, I suppose, about being cooped up in boxes all day.
Thank you earthmen for this chance to get to know you.
Gratefully,
The man from the Mars

By the fifteenth century the use of the fork was widely spread in Italy. The English explanation was that Italians were unwilling to eat food touched with fingers,”seeing all men’s fingers are not alike clean.”

In America many children act in TV shows. They work several hours every day, so they cannot go to a regular school. How do they get an education?
In Hollywood where many TV shows are made, about forty teachers give lessons for the children in the shows. They teach wherever their pupils are working.
The teacher’s job is very important. She is responsible for making sure that the child works only in the permitted hours each week. She is also responsible for making sure that the child learns the required subjects. She makes sure, too, that the child gets enough rest and play, along with his education.
Child actors are required to attend classes twenty hours each week. California law says that they must be taught from September to the middle of June. If they do not get good marks, they are not permitted to continue working in TV shows.
TV children are usually good pupils, and most of their teachers like this special kind of work. Their classes are held in many interesting places. Sometimes the “classroom”is a Mississippi riverboat. Sometimes it is the inside of a spaceship. Often the pupils become famous stars.

Dear Mr Smith,
I was so pleased to hear from you and now I am writing to tell you something about my village.Quite a few changes have taken place in my village, through which runs a small river with a stone bridge over it . There are new houses along the southern bank of the river.
Beside the houses there is a playground where the villagers often play ball games after farm work. There is a new school which is to the south of the playground and a library to the east of the school. Also there are rice fields near the houses. A toy factory lies on the northern bank of the river. Beyond it is an orchard where all kinds of fruit are grown.
The villagers here are living a happy life. I hope you’ll come and see for yourself some day.
Best wishes
Yours,
