His army was small, but it was made up of soldiers from many countries that didn' t wanted to be ruled by the Romans.

Before Harnnibal could fight the Romans, he had to cross the Alps, the high mountains that the Romans always had thought would protect them from enemy armies. When winter came, the Romans did not think Hannibal could possibly cross the mountains. Harnnibal surprised them. Tom Hanks ranks(排名) as one of Hollywood's most popular actors. Moviegoers eagerly anticipate( 期待) the opening of his new pictures. If you' re a Hanks fan, you don' t have to wait much longer. Hanks' newest film, Cast Away, opens this winter.

Tom Hanks plays Chuck Noland, a FedEx executive who lives by the clock. He carefully schedules every minute of both his professional and personal time. But on his way home for the holidays, the small plane he's on crashes in the Pacific Ocean. Only Noland survives. He ends up alone on a tropical island and begins a battle for survival. In the process, his view of success and life itself change dramatically.

This role may be the most physically-challenging of Hanks' career. The actor lost 55 pounds (25 kilograms) for the part. Director Robert Zemeckis shot the first section of the film with Hanks weighing more than 225 pounds( 102 kilograms). Then filming took a break for a year while Hanks lost weight. To take off the pounds, Hanks ate little and exercised a lot.

The movie may surprise some of Hanks' fans. It's not an upbeat(轻松活波的) comedy like Sleepless in Seattle or You' ve Got Mail. In fact, Hanks spends a large part of the movie not speaking. After all, who is there to talk to when you're alone on an island?

When prices are low, people will buy more, and when prices are high, they will buy less. Every shopper knows this. But at the same time, producers want higher prices for their goods when they make more goods. According to the economic point of view, changes in the prices of goods cause changes in supply and demand. As is shown in the graph ,people buy fewer shoes as the price of shoes goes up. Business firms look for the perfect price at which the largest profits can be made. If the price of the shoes goes up to $50,the con-will not buy all of 3,000 shoes. The producers will have a surplus of 2,000 shoes and they can only get $50,000.If the price of the shoes is lowered to $10,as many as 5,000 shoes can be sold. Still, only $50,000 is made.
