About ten men in every hundred suffer from color blindness in some way. Women are luckier, only about one in two hundred is affected(影响) in this matter. Perhaps , after all , it is safer to be driven by a woman!
There are different forms of color blindness. In some cases a man can not be able to see deep red. He may think that red, orange and yellow are all shades of green. Sometimes a person cannot tell the difference between blue and green. In rare cases an unlucky man may see everything in shades of green-a strange world indeed.
Color blindness in human beings is a strange thing to explain. In a single eye there are millions of very small things called “cones” .These help us to see in a bright light and to tell difference between colors. There are also millions of “rods” but these are used for seeing when it is nearly dark. They show us shape but no color.
Some insects have favorite colors. Mosquitoes(蚊子)like blue but do not like yellow. A red light will not attract insects, but a blue lamp will, in a similar way human beings also have favorite colors. Yet we are lucky. With the aid of the cones in our eyes we can see many beautiful colors by day, and with the aid of he rods we can see shapes at night. One day we may even learn more about the invisible colors around.

EAGLE DEATHS
The deaths of six bald(秃) eagles are causing concern for the officials of the Birds Center in Maitland, Fla. The birds were among eight found sick or injured in central Florida Last week.
Only 48 bald eagles required care at the center during all of 2000, so the large number of problems in such a short period of time was unexpected. The injuries included gunshot wounds and poisoning.
“It's frightening to think this much is happening ( to the eagles ) while they are still protected under the law, ” said Birds Center director Resee Collins. She feels one of the Largest challenges(挑战) bald eagles face is their loss of living areas thanks to increasing activities from human development. She's worried that people who consider the birds as troubles might be taking steps to remove them on their own instead of getting advice from trained experts.
The bald eagle population has been making a recovery ----the species(种群) has been upgraded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from “endangered(in danger)” to “threatened (near danger)”. Collies said this only occurred because of the state rules to protect the eagles.

Text10
Now, you want to know about life in the past. Right? I can tell you. When I was a boy, things were different. I had to get up at six every morning. That was not very bad in summer, but in winter it was cold. And we didn't have any hot water in the house. We had to wash in cold water. We didn't have a bathroom. My dad had some chickens. I had to feed them every morning and then I had to walk to school with my little sister. It was two miles to school and two miles back in the evening. But it always seemed longer in the morning when we were going to school. There was a bus, but we didn't have the money. And we had to go to bed at seven o'clock every night. We couldn't watch TV because there wasn't any. On Sundays we had to go to church three times-morning, afternoon and evening. And we couldn't play outside on Sundays. But it wasn't all bad. We had some good times. We could go out and our parents didn't have to worry about us. There weren't so many cars on the roads then, so the streets were safe to play in. And there were not many robbers and thieves in those days. We had to work hard and we weren't able to buy all those things in the shops today. Life was hard, but it was simple and people were happier. I don't think I'd like to be young today.
22.D 现在分词做定语时相当一个主动语态的定语从句,entering=“the people who enter another country”。
35.B 第一个空应用the other,是特指。
36.A from which即是指from the middle of a forest.
37.A for表示原因。用when或so意思不当,用where语法有误。
41.D land
51.C tops of the trees指树的顶端。
